Ladies Livestock Lessons 2012 Cancelled.

We are sad to report that due to lower than usual registrations we've had to cancel the 2012 Ladies Livestock Lessons event.  We hope to be back in 2013 with an even better program and fantastic event for our central Alberta lady ranchers and farmers.  The Ladies Livestock Lessons committee sincerely apologises for this change, but it just wasn't fiscally possible for us to proceed with the number of ladies registered as of the registration deadline.

If you have any feedback for us, or would like to comment, please feel free to get in touch with us!  (kspicer@cowsandfish.org or klewis@rdcounty.ca).   We enjoy hearing from you, and always incorporate any feedback provided on topics, speakers, and location into our future events.

June 8th, 2012 Registration Deadline!

Only one more week to register for the 2012 Ladies Livestock Lessons.  We've still got a few spaces available, so register now to save yourself a seat!  Our field sites have been selected for the DAY 2 outdoor sessions and we'll be visiting Ghostpine Creek, just south of Pine Lake.  You'll get your boots dirty learning about Cowgirl Range and Riparian Managment and you'll also get to try your hands at some fencing techniques.  Have you got a trouble spot on a creek, or do you wish you had more willows to keep your streambank in place?  We'll be trying out some bioengineering techniques using native, locally collected willow cuttings that you can try at home.  Root, shoot and grow!  Don't forget about our session with Les Burwash on Working Ranch Horse Nutrition.  And you asked for it last year, more on Edible Plants!  We're looking forward to it, and look forward to meeting all of you, and seeing some familiar faces from previous years!
